Headwaters

Writer and artist residencies open in the heart of the White Mountains.

Front Porch

Our mission is to provide dedicated time and space for writers and artists to immerse themselves in their creative process, in the mountains, and in community.

Channeling springs, snowmelt, and summer showers, the White Mountains serve as headwaters for watersheds that seep and pour through ravines, gorges, and hollows, all eventually finding their way downstream to the North Atlantic. These headwaters are a creative source, carving out the musculature of this ancient landscape. We welcome writers and artists to use their time here to reconnect with their source, to let it shape them and their work.

Our Space

Our space is a three-bedroom cottage in the small, art-centric town of Bethlehem, nestled in the middle of New Hampshire’s White Mountains. Once touted the poetry capital of New Hampshire, Bethlehem has long been a destination for those seeking clarity. Artists and writers have been coming to the region for more than a hundred years to find meaning and muses in the North Country.

Our Residencies

We warmly accept artists and writers of all experience levels. Residents may choose to seek solitude at the cabin or share the space with a creative partner. All residencies are one week long.
